The Laws of Healing

Summary of T-26.VII

The laws of healing must be understood before the purpose of the course can be accomplished. This summarizes all that must occur for healing to occur.

1.    All sickness is punishment I inflict upon myself because I believe I separated from God and my brother. The guilt that I feel for committing this sin demands punishment in this world of shadows and illusions built on sin. Sin is the belief that some errors are past hope of healing. This world is an insane ego attempt to prove my innocence while cherishing attack, which leaves me still feeling guilty.

2.    Perception is wish fulfillment through image-making. Cause (a guilt/attack thought in my mind, the source) is projected out on the screen as an illusion of an attack being made on me, satisfying my demand for punishment. After an illusory gap of time, I see myself being attacked. None of this is outside my mind. My thoughts cause the apparent effect. The world is all in my mind. No illusion has any truth in it. All are false. Projection and time are illusions.

3.    The miracle is possible when cause (my attack thought) and consequence (my perception of attack) are brought together. Then I see that I am dreaming the dream; that I caused it because of my belief in separation and in bodies.

4.    There is no sin. There is only error, which can be corrected by making a different choice. My errors are beliefs that I impose between my brother and myself. They limit us in time and space, symbolized by a body, the representation of my wish to be separate.

5.    Forgiveness is my other choice; it is the answer to attack of any kind because it shows there was no attack and there was no hurt. By seeing there was no attack, it takes away my wish to be separate. There is no difference among the Sons of God. Unity is true; specialness is false. Forgiveness thus becomes the wish to join with my brother, and in his sinlessness I see my own. I become aware of love’s presence and bring joy to the world.

6.    A miracle makes no change; it makes what has always been true recognizable to me. Salvation asks only a little willingness to overlook what is not there, that the Will of God be seen. He wills that His Son have everything. What I have is what I am.
